I only recently became aware of this. I had seen the original comic a long time ago. Still do not understand why people mock it.

Because it was completely out of place, was a major tonal whiplash, and didn’t really have much explanation (other than the obvious) at the time to the readers who were mainly terminally online nerds before that was as much of a thing. Add in the toxicity of the forums and the existing B^U meme, (making fun of his inability to make that many facial expressions) and this was pretty much inevitable.

I get that he needed to express the grief (and I’ve been there too), but sometimes the choices we make to deal with it aren’t the best ones to make.

This makes it seem as though this has persisted because of him and not because people on the internet constantly want to punch down while thinking they’re punching up. People mock it because it makes them feel better about their own failures.

Ctrl-Alt-Del was a mildly funny Penny Arcade knock off but the creator ventured into more serious themes. That turned out to be unpopular so he did a miscarriage powered 180 and became immortal.

It always felt pretty narcissistic and self-important, that’s what I found off-putting with it at least. It’s clear that it held a very high opinion of itself.

LOL, I went to see what the availability was, and it looks like CloudFlare have decided that anyone going to AMC’s site from a duckduckgo search for “Melania movie tickets” is probably an attacker.

Does the movie teach you how to be a gold digger and keep ICE from deporting you?

Obliquely. What you want to do is having a father connected with the KGB so that when he dies they will come to you and tell you that you will become a supermodel in Europe and the USA, and they will set it up through intermediaries, and you will get orders to get close to high profile industrial and political targets and that’s it! Live a good life, write a book, drink champagne, until one day you will be told to court and become the the wife on one of said targets, and if you don’t you will lose everything, perhaps even your life or that of your loved ones, and you will manipulate said target and report back to your handlers as told.

Just kidding, you have to study hard, work hard, and be passionate about your craft, and success will automatically follow, that’s how all rich and powerful people do it.
