Other fun fact: cheetahs meow like housecats! They’re more closely related to housecats than other large cats like tigers.
And not like a super loud meow, the same tiny mew like your regular normal cat.
I think they are the only big cat that can purr too, but I’m not positive

Proper zoos play an important role in education and conservation regarding yhe species they house. Yes conditions are often not great but I think animals overall benefit from their existence.
The original case of companion dogs for cheetahs was also a way to help an orphaned cheetah have a healthier life. He would have been alone otherwise, Dr Laurie Marker figured this out as a way to give him the companionship he would have had in better circumstances
She also figured out how to teach him to hunt, which was a big step for captive breeding of cheetahs as a tool in rewilding and maintaining genetic diversity
So cute. I am jealous. I want a cheetah.
