Personally, I have stopped contributing to open source as much because I know that any code I write will be stolen by scrapers to be fed to LLMs without regard to licensing.

Renee Good didn’t have a gun and got killed anyways. It’s a good idea for everyone to arm themselves to fight fascism, believe it or not.
Compliance in advance with fascism to avoid violence does not prevent violence. It allows violence to continue against minority groups, to the benefit of the majority.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Emphasis mine - obviously there’s more than one interpretation, but I think that if the intent was to only protect the rights of people to keep and bear arms if and only if they are members of some organized militia, it would have been clearly indicated by the text. It seems obvious to me that everything before that comma is explanatory, personally.

3·2 days agoSo yeah like I wrote above, I’m disabled, and people have been telling me my whole life that I’m lazy, not contributing to society, a drain on resources, immature, irresponsible, and things like that. I’m 32. So this kind of joke brings back memories of all of those moments of cruelty people have inflicted on me, and those memories bring back other painful memories.
And yeah, that is my problem, I’m not trying to take the joke/meme away from you, I’m just trying to explain how jokes like this can hurt some of the most marginalized people in society, and why you might get people deliberately missing the point to try and explain this to you.

1·5 days agothe former contains people who would otherwise never considered such transgressions
That’s a pretty bold claim - what’s your basis for saying that?
I think I broadly understand your point and generally agree with you, just trying to understand your position

31·5 days agoI don’t really think that’s completely correct tbh. For some people it will for sure be that way, but there are lots of people who are very aroused by kids specifically, not just the thrill of getting away with a crime
be proud of yourself for who you are, find happiness in a life you choose, and live without regrets, that’s all any good parent could ever hope or dream for

30·5 days agoThese people don’t give a shit about age of consent, and can act with impunity as long as their targets are vulnerable or poor. I was abused as a kid and my abuser said “as long as you don’t die or go missing nobody will care” and that’s basically true.
Most sex tourism happens in the global south, particularly in Asia, because that’s where more poor people are.
I doubt LLMs are being used much for COBOL, if anything it’ll be used in a “replace this COBOL with Java”. COBOL is used as legacy code and most of it has already been rewritten in Java.
As someone who knows COBOL, I’d say, don’t bother. People over exaggerate the availability and remuneration of COBOL jobs. Maybe they used to be well paid or there used to be lots of jobs, but it’s pretty much a myth these days.

The reality is that a lot of that law discussion is bullshit, the Supreme Court infamously just picks and chooses constitutional interpretations to support whatever goes in line with whatever they wanted to do in the first place. The more you learn about the Supreme Court, the more obvious it becomes.
I can’t speak for the rest of Europe, but we don’t have anything similar here, but we don’t have a written constitution.
