A lot of the republicans I know honestly believe there’s a huge swath of people on wellfare who are totally healthy and could work if they wanted to, but instead they take government handouts and make a whole bunch of money doing nothing by convincing people they’re needy. I always ask them to point to even one of these supposed people, but they always change the subject.
Yes, cops and soldiers are meant to have different roles, but when we’re focusing on their shared propensity for killing innocent unarmed people, there’s not much of a distinction.
Sooo… the vast majority of Democrat voters? I know we’re all pretty big lefties here, but I’ve never met a single Democrat voter out in the real world who didn’t think Obama was the perfect president who did absolutely nothing wrong. My father in law - who has a degree in political science - keeps a photo of Obama in his wallet at all times along with pictures of his family members.
Sure, plenty of people have started to come to the realization that our soldiers are not heroically staving off evil abroad, but they’re still a tiny fraction of the American population as a whole.
There’s a reason it’s pushed so hard, and it’s because people in power don’t want to lose the golden goose that is American apathy. They can oppress us as much as they want, and we think having the moral superiority of taking it on the chin makes us strong. It doesn’t.
Usually when someone is contacting someone else while working on making peace with their feelings about that person’s behavior, it’s because they want to have a discussion with them about it. It’s unusual for it to be a one-and-done text without expectation of a response. But if a response is expected, it’s then unusual to follow up that text with another concerning a completely different topic. If I were in this situation, I’d find it hard to begin a discussion about her annoyance, which is valid and deserves to be explored, when the current topic is now a winery van.
