Did you not get the memo? In the US of A, your parents’ house is not your house. Some people literally evict their children because they’re not legally required to care for them anymore after 18.
My mom recently packed a suitcase with all my old clothes I left back home almost 15 years ago (washed and folded) and brought it with her recently in her last visit. My room is still “my room” too, with my old Legos and MtG cards still in the same place I left them. 🥲
