Once I’m around 20 I start to feel overwhelmed and just close them all, and start again. Selective pruning takes too much effort. I’ll find what I was looking for again

I think in both FF and Chrome you can just go to menu, history and then recently closed windows.

Ctrl + Shift + N in Firefoxen will reopen an entire closed window. Handy if you have multiple windows open but only closed one. Related to Ctrl + N for a new window.

Is it different in Chromium based browsers? I just tested by closing a window with a few tabs, and T only brought back a tab from the remaining window, not the window I’d just closed.

For Firefox Ctrl, Shift + D, it bookmarks all of your open tabs in a new folder.

Do it every week? Wish I could know how to make it do itself everyday.

I can fill the tab row and after that every tab decreases efficiency. If I can type where to go faster than I can find the old tab, what is the point.

55 tabs, that is some serious gooning. If it is not private/incognito tabs this would not be an issue…

Bookmarks are a thing. Then just open them up as a new tab group. Does FF do tab groups? I’m on mobile right now.

        You’ll find this hilarious

I used bookmarks for a while to bookmark my tabs and save them as text links

But as far as I know you can only do that one window at a time and…

        I have so many windows…

            Oh but I can

            I do use many tabs

I have entire windows full of tabs

I have two browsers full of windows full of tabs

I’ve been meaning to quit Google Chrome for two years

            I can’t

            There’s tabs in it

I cleared them at one point but then my Firefox was so full of tabs that I used Chrome for a while

So now it’s full of tabs again

            I am a tab hoarder

Also… I could have put these sentences in a paragraph but… I just feel like if I put them on separate lines, they’ll be easier for me to spot when I need them.

            I have a serious problem

Hence why I have session restore enabled.

So I can have my 1519 tabs back.

    Like any normal person.

…this is what normal people do… right?

Many years ago I once had almost 10 000 tabs open at some point. Today I only have a few hundred tabs open like an average person. :)

I suggest a tab grouping addon because there are scenarios where you can still lose your tabs with just session restore (eg if you open a new browser window, that often gets treated as a different session and it will only save the one closed last, so if you close the big tab one first and then close a single tab, you might find it only has that single tab saved when you load it up again).

I use Simple Tab Groups, which is set up to hide tabs from other groups until I switch to them, so it doesn’t depend on what is going on in the active session (well, kinda, FF does provide a lot of the infra, like the loaded tabs from inactive groups are still loaded), but uses its own data to save/restore tabs that isn’t just “save a flat list of tabs when window is closed”.

Tree Style Tab (or any of the other very good extensions doing the same) is the ultimate to organize your tabs.

And then you can answer to all these “But why ? Bookmarks are the only good way !” with : Why manually sort things in bookmarks when it can sort itself automagically and if it’s not adequate, it’s just drag and drop it on the view I already have at the side of my browser ?

I use Zen Browser, so all windows have the same tabs (unless it’s a private window, but those don’t get saved). But for any other browser that doesn’t do this, tab groups are a good idea, when having that many tabs open.
