ⓧ Doubt
oh yea i remember this splinter

basically after gonzalo they became more pragmatic and allied the Ethnocacerists (centre-left nationalists) and with the time they became less maoist, i dont think this will change much since they are still a guerrilla group at war with the goverment
This group was supporting Castillo and Sanchez. The other group was threatning rural voters to not vote at all because apperently Fujimori winning is ashtually good or something idk, they mostly just sell drugs to americans anyway.
?Is this real?
Shining Path is a mostly CIA funded terrorist group created to delegitimize the center-left goverment of Alan Garcia (due to his pro-soviet foreign policy, Garcia and the APRAista party turned full neoliberal by 1988 and even their guerilla/paramilitary organization, Commandos Rodrigo Franco, turned from a left-wing group to a death squad) and the far-left guerrilla movements of the 1980s and 1990s. When the CIA money dried up and the Fujimori dictatorship stopped funding them, they became basically a drug cartel with a bunch of splinter groups.
What I am confused about is the China stuff mentioned here. I am assuming they unilaterally made this declaration. But why?
I am assuming they unilaterally made this declaration.
Yes.
But why?
They’re backed by the USA and the Peruvian Right-Wing. A lot of their actions is based around what they can do to sabotage and divide the left in Peru (which is usually divided into three groups; Rural, Urban and the Ethnocarcerists/Velascoist/Army), meanwhile they sell drugs and help the Lima elite by attacking rural communities and Incan communities.
posturing probably, it sounds like a good rhetoric both ways. you claim support for china for the leftists, and the rightists have another reason to hate on you to promote the murder of communists?
Shit, when we’re getting a revolution in Peru?
