That’s one thing that’s hard to explain to Europeans - the US has good food, some of the best in the world.
It’s just not the usual fare, and you will pay so much for it.
There’s great artisan bakeries - but here in Barcelona, every bakery has good fresh bread without additives for a euro or two right by your house. In the US, same things would take a specific car trip and cost much more.

that’s pretty standard for Europe as a whole - lived in Netherlands and Croatia (both smaller cities) and it was the same thing
