I think this varies from person to person. But in my experience for a rule of thumb, calling when urgent is the way to go. Maybe it doesnt work for you. But hospital wont email you when they need something emergency.
Do what you want, as I said, I’m not answering a cold call or responding to it unless there is a voicemail and there is a lot more friction between me and listening to a voicemail than there is for checking a teams message or an email.
