Here it’s not an older people thing but a foreigner thing for some reason. I wonder if it is culturally more acceptable in some places (and some part is explained by video calls)

Got an Italian neighbor that does that (along other disruptive things). Goes out on the balcony with either a show/movie or phone call blasting on speakers while smoking the most disgusting/cheapest cigarettes known to man. How are you 20 something and not know what earphones are??

Mind you, I’m a foreigner here, too, but I wasn’t raised by wolves.

I see a lot of younger people doing this in my area. I never understand it. They’ll be driving newer cars that surly have Bluetooth but they still hold their phone up to their mouth while they drive with it on speakerphone.

I do this 😅 I have a hard time with phone calls and for some reason it makes it much easier for me to process what’s being said, or maybe its just more comfortable, I dunno

My preference is headphones, but if I don’t have headphones I’m putting it on speaker unless I’m in a shared space with an expectation that I not just have my call broadcasting to everyone in earshot (not gonna be that guy at the grocery store or whatever)
