I love dogs, but this is one of the reasons why I won’t have another one.

I had a cat who developed dementia at 17. At that point, she started waking me at 5 a m. daily to feed her. For her entire life before that, she had always stayed in bed until after everyone was up and about. That last 18 months reminded me a lot of having a dog.
