Is that the language selection? I believe communities are configured to allow posts/comments in selected languages, and then your personal feed can be configured to only show content in your language (and/or “undefined” as a catch-all).
Ha, I just realized we’re in a community that I set up.
I probably chose to keep all languages in one box (undetermined) if it gave me the option, because I remember back when I joined lemmy, there were some visibility issues when people were only seeing half of the posts in communities due to some posters choosing “English” and some choosing “undetermined” at random.

yeah. but a lot of them are just “undetermined” and you can’t post without setting it. that, to me, indicates that the community wasn’t configured.
