Here is a 486 taking over three minutes to boot.
The person you replied to countered a broad generalization with an anecdote which probably matches the lived experience of most of us oldies who lived through the time. Your comment did not contribute to the conversation.
Haven’t read the comics yet, but the show Invincible has an interesting deconstruction of this topic. When Mark comes on the scene, superheroes are popular and generally seen as virtuous.
Mark and his opponent are so much more powerful than any other heroes who came before and he’s unable to stop their battle from destroying huge chunks of a city and killing thousands.
The government understands his limits and the elevated stakes, but the people on the ground vilify Mark and he has to deal with his guilt and their hatred throughout the series.

Well… you should stop. Use that noggin and write some home grown anti-boss fanfic if you really want to keep down that road

Thanks. I blame the awful sex education I received growing up in the South in the US for under preparing me.

I knew very little about HPV until I became symptomatic last summer. I had just turned 39 and had an extremely painful and difficult few months dealing with it. I’m now vaccinated and see a proctologist every few months to manage minor ongoing symptoms.
Talk to your doctor about getting the vaccine if you haven’t already! It’s super common and can be extremely unpleasant to catch. And if you care about the AFAB partners in your lives, get the vaccine to protect them! There is no test for men to determine if they have HPV unless they are symptomatic, and you can be a carrier for years before symptoms show, if they ever do!

No, it’s upper management. I don’t give a fuck what you’re doing all day as long as it doesn’t create security vulnerabilities in the environment
I’m case there is any truth to this and you need to hear it, that’s a toxic work environment and you need to GTFO, OP
Nothing else could bring such a sense of pride and accomplishment than setting new downvote records

Where I am, I can pay for gigabit duplex or 500Mbps cable. The issue is that the upload speed on the cable circuit is only 30Mbps and I have multiple people streaming from my Plex server, playing games on servers I run, or I might be checking my security cameras while I’m out and about. The only time 300Mbps isn’t enough for me is on big files from beefy CDNs like Steam, but 30Mbps gets constraining pretty quick.
I bounce between podcasts and music and I have to turn podcasts up when I’m at highway speeds to pick up the details of the conversation. If I switch to music the next morning, I do still get blasted like this.
I could also see a store where you’ve got a running balance and get charged full price for a bottle of fish oil, bag of salt, whatever, but if you bring it back you get credited back most of what you spent based on the remaining weight.
At least until the one asshole comes along and cuts the cooking wine with vinegar or something to save a few cents.
My parents are in this boat and don’t understand how the ladder has been pulled up behind them. They see the modest success my siblings and I have and don’t realize that we’ started from privilege that they earned for us, but is no longer available to the people starting today where they started 40 years ago.

I remember being out of work from my helpdesk job a couple decades ago and responding to a post on reddit asking for someone to help fix their PC. I went over and talked to the guy. He’d gone through three motherboards and was at his wits end because he couldn’t get anything to turn on.
I looked over his setup, pulled out my pocket knife, stuck it in, and his PC booted right up. His PC case power button was broken, so I jumped the pins to make sure it was just a mechanical issue. Then I wired his reset button up to it instead. He gave me his old Dreamcast on top of the agreed upon six pack because he was so relieved. It was great for my self-confidence while I was out of work.

I’m sure Waymo’s lawyers would argue that a simple software update would make the “driver” an entirely new entity, and thus free from the fines and incarceration. You’re raising some interesting legal questions that we’d have to figure out
I disagree that Cena doesn’t challenge himself. If you go back and look at The Marine, then at Peacemaker Season 2, the difference is night and day. He’s done interviews about how he tried to bring his pro wrestler mentality into acting and fell flat on his face. When he came back with roles like the boyfriend in Trainwreck and the dad in Blockers, you can tell he slowed down and started having fun with it. From there, I’d argue he turned himself into a decent actor.

I support a call center and we’re about to implement an AI agent. We’re paying for a model that essentially can talk and has “learned how to learn”, but is otherwise dumb. It’s trained on a very small amount of information, anything we’d give to a real agent, plus the public info on our website.
The result of this should be a bot that says, “I don’t know, should I transfer you to a real person?” a lot, but should hopefully never hallucinate or teach someone how to build a bomb or something.
Dunno how others do it though
Victor Frankenstein dropped out during his undergrad. He was not a doctor. He was a scientist.
