It’s our first Halloween living in a nice-ish area and it was a bit of culture shock getting so many trick or treaters. I bought so much chocolate and we ran out within an hour of the first kids at the door. Most of them were polite and it was nice to pay it forward this year, it was always my favourite holiday as a child.

3·7 days agoFwiw, we don’t (yet, it’s coming into force next year) have that right in the UK and they are refunding me anyway. They extended the refund period a couple of weeks to give me a chance to migrate away as well. The whole experience emailing them made me wonder if their customer support is just sick of the company by now because it felt like customer support were almost glad to get another refund through

2·8 days agoThanks, I’ve just emailed them there to see if I can get it cancelled and refunded from a month from now, just to have a few weeks to migrate. Now it’s just a case of looking for alternatives which’ll be a pain cause I naively put all my eggs in Proton’s basket…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Would you rather be an idiot on a team of intelligent people or the intelligent person on a team of idiots?
5·4 months agoI’ve been both on different uni projects. Far better being the smart one in a group of idiots and just banging out the work without interference for a good grade. Being the idiot on the smart team was torture.
“Bullying works” is one of those really nasty, regressive takes that always shocks me when it appears in otherwise progressive spaces

I went with mailbox in the end and it’s been pretty good so far. It’s not the main reason I chose them but it is so much easier to read out “mailbox dot org” over the phone to someone than having to spell out the name of some of the other privacy-focused providers.
