5 days agoI was long under the impression that Albanians were overly prominently present in fighting forces of the age and region. While I can’t cite sources atm, I recall Albanians in Constantinople (mostly in service), as well as in the ranks of the Mamluks, making up a significant portion, if not the majority, of the world’s Albanian population at the time
