That’s basically what I did, along with the new PSU, but thats still a lot to spend on a hobby/luxury, unfortunately, so I can’t really afford to tinker with it more than that.

With this sort of thing, I’m always left wondering what I’m missing in terms of the hardware. Like, I’ve been collecting bits and bobs of old hardware for years, but it feels like if I want anything more than an absolutely basic raspberry-pi-level server, I need to buy dedicated hardware. For example, I want to put together a nas, especially since I do have a collection of spare, old hard drives, but would want raid for that. Unfortunately, its rare to find a mobo that has more than four sata ports, and all the power supplies I have available to harvest from other systems are either too weak, or are proprietary, meaning I’m halfway to buying a new PC anyway. Is there something I’m missing, or do others just have more disposable income?

As someone who supports psychotherapy practice: You’re massively underestimating how bad many therapists are. Even in regions where it is fairly strictly regulated, its not rare to find psychotherapists with no idea what they’re doing and/or no care for their clients, nonetheless without a more comprehensive understanding of neurodivergence or trauma. Far, far too many treat psychotherapy as a checklist of CBT activities, ignoring the needs of individual clients or the contexts of their concerns.
Again, psychotherapy is useful, proven to be effective, and generally good, but its not at all rare to have terrible therapists, or to have those that don’t “click” with you. Statememts like,
Whether you were game for that or not is a different question
just make you look like an elitist asshole, and discredits the field, particularly to those who have had similar experiences (which is not a small number of people).
Edit: Although to be extra clear, if the therapist if asking you this question, they probably don’t know what they’re doing.

22·1 month agoWhile support for restrictions on social media use is widespread, what people want is far different from what governments are implementating. For example, while a large majority support restrictions, a similarly large majority also believe said restrictions should be managed by parents. (Angus Reid, 2026) At a more practical level, these polls are also extremely vague about the restrictions, and I expect would receive very different results if the questions were about the policies governments are actually trying to implement. Having an “Are you over 18?” popup is still an age gate, but is a very, very different measure than the ID verification most governments want.

Where do you think all the aforementioned hard drives came from? Lol. Its just that so many of the other parts are proprietary/old that I can’t mix-and-match to make something more useful. For a breif period, I had four separate working desktops, and not one had a standard power supply or mobo. I swear all of that should be made illegal.
