When I want a cup of coffee, I’m looking for comfort in a cup, that cozy feeling when the coffee hits the spot, along with a little sweet chocolatey note, and a hint of bitterness and acid.
Light roasts relly don’t do any of that for me at all. What experience do you have when drinking it? What parts do you enjoy?
I’ve got a mokka pot and an aeropress and I’m willing to give it a try.
I like some of the fruity notes you can get with lighter roasts, local place has some they do where the focus is on the jammy, citrus and floral flavours, absolutely not for everyone and I can totally appreciate that.
I rotate between pour over and aeropress, have a cloth filter for my chemex and that’s what I’ve found I like personally, going for something like 15:1 with a medium grind. For aeropress I’ll go quite fine and invert it, something like a 5:1 ratio.
Interesting, will probably have to try it with the aeropress. I do have some haro v60s but my kettle’s pour is so catastrophical that pour-overs are just out of the question until the case that I might want to splurge for a fancier one.
Try pouring over the back of a spoon or through something like a colander to break up the flow.
If you’re able to pour slow still, consider a Melodrip. I haven’t used one myself but they might help you significantly with your pouring issue. Just don’t dump the entire kettle’s worth of water in one go, obviously.
