That top part is called the cashew apple. It’s edible and apparently tastes pretty good. It doesn’t ship very well so people outside the area where they grow don’t usually experience them. I’m guessing the juice comes from that.
That is correct. From what I remember, the fruit is very astringent and has a very small window of being ripe and sweet to eat before it goes sour, which limits transportation and export. But you might find juice concentrate in your local Latin American shop.
