    Explanation: In his writings after his exile, Napoleon excoriates several other military ‘greats’ of the past - even Frederick the Great, whom Napoleon otherwise admired, got a little flak for not being as artillery-savvy as Napoleon himself (Napoleon started his career as an artillery officer, so he may be a bit biased)

    Julius Caesar, of dictator and conqueror fame, however, goes unscathed by any military criticism - though Napoleon does doubt the accuracy of Caesar’s own account of the conquest of Gaul!
